The Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI researches and develops special problem solutions at the interfaces of medicine, life sciences and engineering. For our working group "Vaccine Technologies" we are looking for a scientist to join our team from the beginning of 2024. The research group develops diagnostic techniques and prevention strategies for infectious diseases, both in human and veterinary medicine. Important research topics are zoonoses and emerging or re-emerging viral infections.

**What you will do**
- As part of an EU-funded international and multidisciplinary project team, you will develop methods for the detection and control of zoonotic infectious agents. A particular focus of your work is on microarray-based serological assays.
- You will prepare project reports and publications with your laboratory results and present them at project meetings and at national and international symposia.
- By guiding the technical assistants and by supervising junior staff (master's and PhD students) you will actively pass on your knowledge.**What you bring to the table**
- You have completed a PhD in the field of biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or in a comparable discipline.
- As part of your career to date, you have already gained at least two years of professional experience in research, preferably in the fields of virology, microbiology or immunology.
- You are willing to work with different pathogens in the laboratory (up to safety level 3) and ideally have previous experience in this field.
- You enjoy exchanging ideas and passing on knowledge in a team and score points with your structured and independent way of working and a confident manner when communicating scientific content. Due to your strong organizational skills, you are able to work on several projects and tasks in parallel. For the cooperation with international project partners, you are a strong communicator in written and spoken English.**What you can expect**
