Deck13 Interactive are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Art Director to play a crucial role in shaping the visual identity for their new IP.

You will lead and inspire a team of artists, guiding them through the creative process to ensure the game's art direction meets the highest standards of quality and exceeds player expectations.

Founded in 2001, and based in the heart of Frankfurt, Deck13 Interactive built a reputation as one of the leading development studios in Germany, leading to their acquisition by Focus Entertainment in 2020.

Deck13 are renowned for their high-quality, immersive gaming experiences crafted by their dedicated development team who strive to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation and known for delivering unforgettable gaming experiences such as Lords of the Fallen, The Surge, The Surge 2 and Atlas Fallen that have captivated players around the world.

**Your responsibilities**
- Develop and communicate a compelling artistic vision for the game, ensuring it aligns with the overall creative direction and narrative
- Collaborate closely with the game's creative leads, including the creative director, to establish a cohesive visual style and atmosphere
- Lead and manage a team of artists, providing mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback throughout the development process
- Oversee the creation of concept art, character design, environment design, and other visual assets, maintaining consistency and fidelity across all elements
- Define and maintain the art production pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows and timely delivery of assets
- Collaborate with technical artists and programmers to implement art assets into the game engine while considering technical constraints
- Conduct regular art reviews and provide feedback to ensure the visual quality and integrity of the game are maintained
- Select external service providers for art outsourcing
- Review and discuss budgets, progress, and timelines with the production department
- Identify required tools and engine improvements and prioritize and plan them together with the technical and production departments

**The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role**
- Previous experience as an Art Director or comparable role in the games industry
- Shipping one or more AA/AAA games as an Art Director or similar position
- Experience of managing/directing a game with a budget of at least €20m
- Expertise in various art disciplines, including concept art, character design, environment design, and visual storytelling
- Leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed artistic decisions while considering technical constraints.
- Able to anticipate, prioritize, and organize work to meet objectives
