**Your key responsibilities**:

- Develop your own research program along the project lines.
- Lead at least two high-quality papers in this research area
- Contribute ideas to the project development
- Contribute to the project’s outreach and teaching activities
- Collaborate with other team members, including supervising students, sharing skills, and helping solve problems in their area of expertise.

**Your profile**:

- You hold a PhD e.g. in conservation, environmental science, ecology or related fields of biology or geography (or equivalent), or anthropology or social sciences, or you have submitted your PhD thesis for assessment.
- Essential is a strong interest in working with freshwater megafauna and in an interdisciplinary social and natural sciences context in order to understand conservation challenges and solutions.
- Essential is publication experience.
- Essential are very good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Desirable is experience in one or several of the following skills: geospatial data management and statistical analysis, use of R, GIS, preferably open source GIS (e.g. QGIS).
- Experience in translating conservation science to action and/or work at the science/policy interface are beneficial.
