- Nature_, the international weekly journal of science, seeks to appoint an **Associate/Senior** **Editor** to cover the broad scientific field of **optics and photonics**.**
Do you love science but feel that a research career isn’t enough to sate your desire to learn more about the natural and technological world? Do you enjoy reading paper and keeping up to date with developments outside your chosen area of research? If the answer is ‘yes’, you could be the person we’re looking for to join the editorial team of _Nature_.
**To be considered for the position, you will have**:
- A passion for science and a thirst to learn more. You must be able to demonstrate the breadth of your interest in scientific research and technological developments, both within and beyond your speciality. (Note that extensive editorial training is offered to help new editors become comfortable with handling a broad field of research.)
- The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different areas of this discipline.
- Excellent time-management skills in order to efficiently navigate multiple time-sensitive activities and shifting priorities.
- Be eager to interact with scientists worldwide, learn more about them and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the papers we seek to publish.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in English (written and spoken).
The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis (ideally starting in early Summer 2024). The position will ideally be located in our New York or Berlin offices, although requests for eventual placement in one of the other _Nature _editorial offices will be considered.

US Annualized Base Salary Range: Associate Editor: $74,000 / Senior Editor: $91,000.
