**Purpose**:Manage, implement, and monitor Environmental Safety, and Health (ESH) programs in a specific program and/or business area.
**Positions Reporting to this Function**:
- ESOH Specialists, ESOH Lead.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensure compliance with all company and business area ESH policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assist the ESOH Manager in the implementation and coordination of company ESH programs, including developing and enforcing policies and procedures, training, hazard analysis, audit/assessment, permitting, recordkeeping, and inspection.
- Resolve compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from within the company, customers, etc.
- Assist with inspections and provide coverage to ensure workplace conditions and work practices conform to ESH standards and best practices when required.
- Ensures workplace conditions and practices comply with applicable federal, state, local and customer/client ESH regulations and standards evaluate, and report metrics to measure status and progress.
- Provide guidance and assistance in performing injury and incident investigations with root cause analysis, prepare corresponding reports, and manage to closure.
- Provide guidance to the ESOH professionals within business unit.
- Assist the ESOH Manager in developing plans, procedures, and policies to continuously improve ESH programs.
- Meet individually assigned targets and those of the team and set an example for team members of commitment, health and safety activities, work ethics and habits and personal character.
- Assist the ESOH Manager to develop, coordinate, and execute an effective safety training program.
- Provide leadership and direction in all areas of a risk assessment, loss control, regulatory compliance, and safety program.
- Establish and implements short
- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
- Keep abreast of pending regulatory developments through reference sources; obtains insight on legislative agendas at state and federal levels.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
**Qualification & Experience Requirements**:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in environment, safety, and health Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste (hazmat/hazwaste), or equivalent field; military setting is preferred, but not required.
- At least 4 years in a supervisory role.
- Must obtain Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification within six months of hire for the position, and Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification within one year.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuing education and training in environment, safety, and occupational health.
- Current First aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training preferred.
- Industrial hygiene and radiation safety a plus, but not mandatory.
- Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background check and a security clearance. Travel may also be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport
**Specialized knowledge and skills**:
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English and preferably German.
- Excellent computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required. Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
**Additional Requirements**:
**1) License and Certifications**:
- First Aid, CPR, and AED, preferred
**2) Physical Demands**:
- Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves-51+ with the assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.
- Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.
- Must be able to endure long hours (overtime as required)
**3) Work Environment**:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
