**Doctoral Research Associate in Experimental Planetary Sciences**

starting on June, 1st, 2023. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (75%) for 36 months.
The PhD position is part of the joint DFG project "Thermal and magmatic development of Venus" between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the University of Münster. The joint project combines numerical thermal evolution models of the interior of Venus (DLR) with petrological high-pressure experiments (Uni Münster).
The project at Münster will focus on experimental investigation of the interior of Venus. Particularly, the project is to investigate the effects of composition on partial melting of the interior of Venus and to understand how crustal recycling in the presence of volatiles may cause chemical heterogeneities at the surface of Venus.
Münster University is one of the leading German research universities with a strong record of research in the areas of geochemistry, petrology, and mineralogy. The department is international and interdisciplinary. The project will be conducted using state-of-the-art high pressure equipment (piston-cylinder apparatus, multi-anvil apparatus) at Münster University combined with a variety of in-house analytical techniques such as electron microprobe, XRD, Raman and IR spectroscopy.
The department is well equipped with a variety of experimental and analytical instruments including modern FEG electron microprobe, SEM, TEM, 193 nm LA-ICPMS, TIMS, MC-ICPMS, PPMS, piston-cylinder apparatus, multi-anvil apparatus, hydrothermal apparatus, high temperature gas mixing furnaces)
