The research-based infrastructure of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), based at DIW Berlin, is one of the largest and longest-running multidisciplinary panel studies in the world, currently surveying about 30,000 people in nearly 15,000 households each year. SOEP claims to capture social change and is thus confronted with ever new and diverse topics and tasks. Its data collection and generation follows the concept of the survey or data life cycle.
We are hiring for the following position, to start as soon as possible:
**Post-Doctoral Position in Wellbeing (f/m/nonbinary). **Full-time at 39 hours per week, part-time possible.
**Tasks and responsibilities**:
Research on the different domains of individual wellbeing such as health and education, family and social life, material resources and leisure time. This includes research topics such as
- Measurement and calculus of wellbeing
- Assessment of the interplay between different dimensions of wellbeing
- Assessment of the determinants of wellbeing, both at individual/household level and a broader societal level
- Assessment of inequalities in wellbeing across individuals, regions, or societal groups
Improvement of the research database SOEP and its usability
- Regular review and revision of the wellbeing-related SOEP items along the state of the art
- Dissemination of the contents of the SOEP study to the scientific community worldwide
Knowledge transfer and contributions to research projects
- Dissemination of research results in society and politics
- Preparation of wellbeing-related materials for SOEP users
- Acquisition of third-party funds in the area of wellbeing
- Mentoring of PhDs
**Requirements**:
- Degree in economics or comparable field of study
- Experience in micro-econometrics incl. panel data econometrics
- Independent, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to your work, paired with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to excellent research standards
- Outstanding communication and implementation skills and ability to work in a team
- Confidence in the use of STATA and/or Python and/or R
- Very good command of German and English
