To support our Molecular Pharmacology Team in** Schwabenheim** (near Mainz), we are looking for you, on a permanent and full-time basis, as an **Associate Principal Scientist **(M/F/d) Molecular Pharmacology in Animal Health **in a laboratory-based scientific role.

**Your Responsibilities and Tasks**:
You will take a vital role in our internal research efforts to identify and evaluate approaches for the development of new antiparasitic drugs with emphasis on anthelmintics.

In this role your primary responsibilities will include the generation and design of cell-based experiments using genetic and pharmacological manipulation of pathways in relevant cell systems to validate and screen novel targets and to characterize molecular mode of action of tool molecules. You will interpret results in the context of pharmacodynamic questions at hand and clearly and effectively deliver conclusions to an interdisciplinary project team.

This position requires extensive hands-on problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. In addition, developing and maintaining collaborations within the Animal and Human Health R&D organization and with the external research community is an important focus of this position.

**Your Qualifications**:

- Ph.D. degree in life science or a related discipline with several years of relevant work experience post Ph.D.
- Extensive experience in electrophysiology methods, molecular biology, and cell-based assay development. Expertise in parasitology, preferably filariids and other helminths.
- Expertise in cell culture techniques and development of in vitro functional assays using genetic and pharmacological manipulation
- Experience with the state-of-the-art technologies e.g., membrane potential assays qPCR, Western blot, ELISA
- Expertise in imaging assays such as high-content imaging platform, etc. is welcome
- Document research output including analysis and interpretation of determined data, maintaining records and databases, drafting technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate
- Ability to independently design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments
- Talent to transfer know how and ideas into research concepts
- Proven track record of scientific accomplishment including generating publication quality data and contributing to manuscript or patent preparation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and presentation), as well as the ability to collaborate in a team environment are required
- Experience in drug and/or pesticide discovery is desired
- Proficient in spoken and written English, additional good knowledge of German is preferred
