**Aufgaben**:
The Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. With Mercedes-Benz AG and the divisions Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest and most successful suppliers of premium cars. **Your tasks / These challenges are coming your way:
- Exploring new cell chemistries and architectures and their effects on cell performance
- Building different types of lithium-ion cells, including slurry preparation and electrode coating
- Cell cycling, tear-downs, and material characterization
- Conceptualizing, designing, modifying existing or building new measurement equipment
- Simulating and reproducing automotive scale battery pack conditions on individual cells in the lab
- Producing peer-reviewed publications and presenting your results to a broad audience

The requirement for hiring is the supervision of the PhD project by a university lecturer. The PhD student is responsible for choosing his/her/their own supervisor.**Qualifikationen**:
**Ideally you qualify for this job with:
- Completed university studies in chemistry, physics, electrical/mechanical engineering, or similar field
- Knowledge and practical experience in electrochemistry and lithium-ion batteries
- Highly motivated and find joy in both theoretical and hands-on laboratory activities
- Basic programming and data analysis skills
- Problem-solving skills and structured approach to challenging tasks
- Soft skills and working in a team in a dynamic professional working environment
- Scientific writing and presentation skills
- Proficiency in using the standard MS-Office programs
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, proficiency in German would be beneficial
