Summary for this Position

Albemarle Corporation is a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of highly engineered specialty chemicals. Our Commodity and Co-Products business is seeking a Business developer who will play a role in developing sustainable solutions for Co-products (mainly Sodium Sulfate Salts & Alumino-Silicates tailings) generated from the lithium salts manufacturing process. This business is a critical enabler within the Energy Storage GBU for its future growth and is led by the Global Business Director Commodity and Co-Products within Carbonate growth platform.

The EMEA Co-Products Business Development role is part of the Commodity and Co-Products team. This role is responsible for assisting in product and business development efforts that help create unique value propositions and solutions for our Co-Products customers. This position will be located in EMEA and reports directly to the Global Sodium Sulfate Salts Business Development Lead, with a dotted reporting line to the Lithium Alumino-Silicates Business Development Lead.

This individual will be a thought leader and have the opportunity to deliver impactful results and shape the future of our EMEA Co-Products strategy. The role requires envisioning of potential value for lithium conversion plants’ Co-Products in EMEA market and will develop business cases and value propositions to justify projects. A key contribution will be creating comprehensive market analyses and sound economic models that will provide the foundation for business decisions.

The EMEA Co-Products Business Development role will work collaboratively with Process Technology team, Capital Project team, Supply Chain team, Procurement team and our regional Sales team. The EMEA Co-Products Business Development role will also engage with customers, potential customers, technical program leader, and relevant stakeholders to gather customer preferences during business development activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze market data and develop recommendations from imperfect / incomplete data sets
- Create analytical models to define business cases and value propositions for conceptual proposals.
- Closely collaborate, work, and lead cross-department teams and business groups, such as engineering, outside partners, and finance to drive and develop new partnerships.
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
- Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
- Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, build relationships with key value chain participants and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
- Monitor competitors and review Albemarle’s offer and position in light of competitors developments.
- Expedite solutions development while being comfortable with the complexity of dynamic, emerging nature of Energy Storage expansion projects

Education And Training Requirements

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business management, engineering or sciences.
- 3+ years of experience in strategy, growth, business development, new product development.
- Exceptional economic evaluation skills.
- Ability to see big picture and able to deploy strategy
- Proactive, self-starter with willingness to take ownership and responsibility.
- Ability to work in a team environment with an adaptable, flexible mindset.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
