At the **Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Hydro Sciences, **the **Institute of Waste**
**Management and Circular Economy, **offers a project position as
**Research Associate **(M/F/x)
starting **as soon as possible**. The position is initially limited until January 31, 2024 and comprises up
to 100% of the full-time weekly hours (part-time is also possible in which case the position can be
shared by more persons). The period of employment is governed by - 2 (2) Fixed Term Research
Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position is part of the BMBF-funded
project “Urban Water Management: German Expertise for Kazakh Cities”. The overall goal of the
project is to develop alternative solutions for sustainable management of urban water resources in
Kazakhstan.
**Tasks**:The work will focus on the** **development of an interactive web-based platform for the analysis,
representation and visualisation of modeling results obtained from the project, including the
following specific tasks:
- Participation in the development of the general concept
- Development of a dedicated software architecture for optimized processing of web-based
- numerical groundwater flow models- Conceptualisation, development and web-based implementation of a graphic user interface
- for advanced visualisation of groundwater models- Coupling the interface to the web-based groundwater modelling platform INOWAS- Preparation of online documentation and participation in workshops and training courses.
**Requirements**:university degree (master or diploma), preferably in environmental sciences,
geoinformatics, applied informatics or equivalent; advanced knowledge in development of web
frameworks); proficiency in written and spoken English; good communication skills. Of advantage are:
experience in groundwater modelling, design and implementation of serious games, development of
environmental software.
