**“Partial Differential Equations“**
(Acting Head: Dr. M. Liero) starting **as soon as possible**.**
- Calculus of Variations and variational analysis (Gamma-convergence, scaling laws, etc.),
- Analysis of multiscale problems (microstructure and pattern formation, dimension reduction, homogenization),
- Nonlinear functional analysis and function spaces for partial differential equations,
- Thermodynamic consistent modeling and analysis of problems in continuum mechanics (elasticity, plasticity, coupled problems, phase transitions in solids),
- Interdisciplinary interaction with researchers in the natural sciences and engineering
**Field of work**: Modeling and analysis with partial differential equations and variational problems. Of particular interest are the modeling and analysis of strain effects in semiconductor heterostructures.
