**Scientific environment**
The professorship will be assigned to the Department of Molecular Life Sciences at the TUM School of Life Sciences. The interdisciplinary campus Freising-Weihenstephan offers numerous opportunities for collaborative research in the areas of biosciences, agricultural sciences, infection biology, immunology and a focus area in microbiome research. The professorship will take on a central role within the newly founded Center for Integrated Infection Prevention (ZIP) and participate as a member of the Hans Eisenmann-Forum for Agricultural Sciences (HEF).

**Responsibilities**
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The overarching goal of the professorship should be improvement of animal health and identification of functional characteristics of animal health. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of animal breeding with a focus on developing genome-based research approaches, approaches for genomic optimization of health and efficiency features, integration, monitoring and evaluation of novel breeding methods such as gene editing, or development of breeding strategies for increasing resilience. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs such as Agricultural Biosciences, Agrosystem Sciences and Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences.
