Fraunhofer EMFT conducts cutting-edge applied research on sensors and actuators for people and the environment. The overhundred employees in the three locations in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg possess impressive long-term experience and wide-ranging know-how in the fields of microelectronics and microsystem technology. The technology offering of the research institution ranges from semiconductor processes and MEMS technologies over 3D integration to flexible electronics.

Currently the Fraunhofer EMFT in Munich is an essential partner in the Bavarian “Munich Quantum Valley”-Program together with the Universities in Munich (TUM & LMU), the Max Planch-Society and different industrial partners and start-ups. The EMFT works mainly on superconductive quantum computing hardware and participates in corresponding Bavarian, German and European Projects. In this context a new interdisciplinary project team was set up at the Fraunhofer EMFT. It works on maturing, scaling and pilot-line manufacturing of superconductive qubit chips in close cooperation with the Walter Meissner Institute (TUM and Bavarian Academy of Sciences). Quantum computing systems based on other qubit principles will also be supported.

**What you will do**

You coordinate and lead the interdisciplinary research of this new project team on superconductive quantum computing hardware. Your work also supports the definition of new projects and their acquisition in this field and addresses at least two of the following tasks:

- Architecture, Design and Integration of scalable Quantum Computing Hardware
- Micro-Nano-Technology for Scaling and Pilot-Line-Manufacturing of Superconductive Qubit Chips
- Development and Application of Hetero-Integration Technologies
- Testing and Characterisation for Quantum Hardware under Cryogenic conditions

Additional tasks are:

- Preparation of Research Results and Publication of new Scientific Findings in relevant Journals and their Presentation at Conferences
- Supervision of Student Theses and Internships

**What you bring to the table**
- Doctorate in Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Professional experience and knowledge in the field of semiconductor technologies
- Experience in the field of quantum technologies and cryotelectronics
- RF or mw design and measurement competencies are desireable

We furthermore expect:

- a self-responsible and structured way of working
- Excellent knowledge of German and English in spoken and written language
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills independently (e.g. scientific working methods, social competence)
- Enjoy working in a team
