The position is assigned to the research project

**„**Robust Data-Driven Reduced-Order Models for Cardiovascular Imaging of Turbulent Flows"**

as part of the Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+.

The goal of the project is to perform research activities in the area of data assimilation methods for fluid flows, optimization, and machine learning

In particular, the project aims at developing robust methods to estimate cardiovascular flow parameters from medical imaging, taking into account the effect of turbulence.

The project is a collaboration between two research groups at WIAS (Numerical Mathematic and Scientific Computing - PI Alfonso Caiazzo, and Data-driven Optimization and Control - PI Jia-Jie Zhu) and the Institute of Computer-assisted Cardiovascular Medicine oft he Charité (PI Prof. Dr. Leonid Goubergrits).

zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist dem Forschungsprojekt

**„**Robust Data-Driven Reduced-Order Models for Cardiovascular Imaging of Turbulent Flows"**

im Rahmen des Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+ zugeordnet.

Zweck der Stelle ist die Durchführung von Forschungsarbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Datenassimilationsmethoden für Fluidströmungen, Optimierung und maschinelles Lernen.

Ziel des Projekts ist insbesondere die Entwicklung robuster Methoden zur Schätzung kardiovaskulärer Strömungsparameter aus der medizinischen Bildgebung unter Berücksichtigung der Turbulenzwirkung.

Das Projekt ist eine Zusammenarbeit zwischen zwei Forschungsgruppen des WIAS ("Numerische Mathematik und Wissenschaftliches Rechnen" - PI Alfonso Caiazzo und "Datengetriebene Optimierung und Steuerung" - PI Jia-Jie Zhu) und das Institut für kardiovaskuläre Computer-assistierte Medizin an der Charité (PI Prof. Dr. Leonid Goubergrits).

**Wir suchen**:

- Einen hochmotivierten Wissenschaftler mit einem Doktortitel in einem Bereich mit Bezug zu numerischer Strömungsmechanik, numerischer Mathematik oder datengesteuerter Optimierung, der bereit ist, sich an innovativen und interdisziplinären Forschungsfragen zu beteiligen. Der erfolgreiche Kandidat wird eng mit Projektpartnern zusammenarbeiten.
- Fundierte Kenntnisse in mindestens einem dieser Bereiche werden erwartet: numerische Analyse, wissenschaftliches Rechnen, maschinelles Lernen, Reduced-order modeling. Erfahrungen mit wissenschaftlichen objektorientierten Programmiersprachen (C++, Python oder Julia) sind sehr relevant. Kenntnisse in der kardiovaskulären Bildgebung sind wünschenswert, aber nicht erforderlich.
