In the period from as soon as possible until 31.12.2026 duties include academic services in the project named above.
In the period from 01.01.2027 until 31.05.2027 duties primarily include teaching and research.
Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.
General information on the Research Training Group:
The HIMBASS Project will advance experimental techniques to study microbial communities through advanced imaging and X-ray based methodologies. For this purpose the structural composition and architecture of both single and multispecies biofilms will be analyzed on a nanoscale.
Specific information on the research idea of the position:
The doctoral researcher will be a member of the lab of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Universität Hamburg. He/She will will be working with Gram-nagetive bacteria forming biofilms. In this project we aim to gain a deep understanding of the structural components of single and multispecies biofilms on a nanoscale.
The position comprises a teaching load of 2 LVS from 01.01.2027 until 31.05.2027, which will be provided in the form of supervision of practical courses.
**Profile**:
A university degree in a relevant field.
A Master degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Life Science or related field is essential. Further knowledge on cultivation and handling of pathogenic and no-pathogenic of bacteria and mixed microbial communities is required together with a deep understanding of microbial physiology and genetics. In addition expertise on bacterial biofilms, bacterial genetics and omics are required. Team spirit, excellent oral and written English skills are necessary.
