At the **Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Forest Sciences, Institute of Soil**
**Science and Site Ecology, **the** Chair of Forest Sites and Hydrology** offers a position as
**Research Associate** **/ Postdoc in forest hydrology** (M/F/x)***
starting **September 1, 2024.** The position is limited to three years with the option of extension for a
maximum of an additional three years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term
Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining
further academic qualification (usually habilitation).
The Chair of Forest Sites and Hydrology represents the field matter and water cycling in forests.
Research focuses on the challenges of global change for establishment, transformation and
management of forests linked to matter and water cycles.
**Tasks**: The aim of this postdoc position is to contribute to **research** focusing on isotope
(eco)hydrology in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, model-based assessment of matter and
water cycles, hydro-climatic extremes (e.g., droughts) and their impacts on forest nutrient and water
cycling. Within this research field, the postdoc will further develop their own scientific profile,
research projects. **Teaching** obligations comprise e.g., the bachelor and master’s “Forest Sciences”
programs and the master’s program “Tropical Forestry”. The ability to teach in German is preferred.
Active participation in academic self-administration is expected.
**Requirements**: university and PhD degree in hydrosciences, (eco)hydro(geo)logy, forest ecology,
geoscience or related fields; preferably with some postdoc experience; proven experience in working
in diverse, international teams, scientific publishing, and presenting at international conferences;
excellent skills in field and lab research with regard to the chair’s expertise (e.g., isotope
(eco)hydrology and/or isotope geochemistry), interest or experience in (eco)hydrological modelling;
knowledge of German is mandatory. A driver’s license is mandatory.
