For our annual English language immersion summer camp for children between 4 -12 years of age, we are looking to hire:
Summer Camp Lead Instructors

Starting in End of June 2023. This Position is until End of August 2023.

Coordinates camp activities, meetings, and schedules along with the Director. Monitors staff and camper progress and provides counsel when needed. Lead Instructors are the primary caregivers for each camper and are responsible for communication regarding camper behaviour and wellness with parents and guardians as needed. The lead instructor is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of program scheduling as well as staff scheduling. Lead instructors are also responsible for managing all instructors in their group and working with the director to ensure operations are running smoothly. Lead Instructors assist Director with the oversight and training of Leaders in Training (LIT).

**Job Functions and Requirements**:
May require working in an outdoor environmentEssential Job Functions:Ability to oversee program activities, field trips and assist the Camp Director when needed.
Ability to supervise by giving feedback or praise when appropriate to Instructors that are assigned to the age group.
Plan staff schedule to ensure all staff in the age group gets appropriate breaks, and there are appropriate numbers for all activities.
Report any positive or negative staff issues to the director.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and children’s’ needs.
Understand and agree to teach and model positive behaviour
Have a genuine interest in the development of youth
Act as lead counsellor for camp programs and activities for an assigned group of campers
Be able to organize and monitor day camp programs to ensure maximum participation from campers
Supervise field trip activities and associated travel
Become familiar with camper health forms to be prepared in case of emergency.
Ensure that camp activities are running smoothly and advise the Camp Director of any issues.
Make sure all equipment and supplies are ready and set-up for activities in advance and that it is properly cleaned up and stored at the conclusion of the activity or day.
Able to problem solve effectively
Health insurance
Previous counsellor and/or extra-curricular coordination experience
Supervisory experience preferred
Strong communication skills in English
Is a team player with leadership capabilities and the ability to delegate responsibility where appropriate
CPR & First Aid or ability to obtain training
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of children and young people
Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
Value and respects the views and needs of children and young people
Prepared and excited to work in a fast paced and high energy environment
Additional experience considered an asset:Experience working in a diverse, multicultural environment
Second language, preferably German
