With the use and commercialization of laser-induced inertial fusion, a clean and highly efficient power generation technology is coming within reach, suitable to ensure a secure and scalable future energy supply.

We are seeking a skilled Neutron Imaging Expert to join our team and help us shape the future of energy.

**What you’ll do**:

- Develop a neutron collimation and imaging system
- Develop a detector together with our partners and make sure it matches our requirements
- Use the detector data to develop a material identification system based on neutron interaction
- Transform raw detector signal into quantifiable data
- System development based on customer requirements, from the requirements analysis to the overall system integration.
- Work together with the team to build an automated neutron inspection system.
- Be responsible for your own project.
- Coordinate with other teams to integrate your results into a larger system.

**Who you are**:

- Master or PhD in nuclear physics, nuclear engineering or comparable.
- 2+ Experience with MeV Neutron imaging detectors.
- Neutron Physics & Instrumentation: Expertise in neutron and x-ray interactions, sources, and the design, construction, and maintenance of neutron and x-ray detectors, beamline components, and signal optimization systems.
- Data Acquisition: Proficiency in hardware and software for neutron detectors and data collection
- Image Processing: Advanced image processing techniques (e.g., noise reduction, artifact correction, segmentation, feature extraction, and reconstruction) and 3D tomography reconstruction.
- Programming & Data Analysis: Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, etc) for simulation, data processing, and quantitative error analysis.
- Exhibit strong self-motivation, goal orientation, and effective time management.
- Work independently, manage workflows efficiently, and adapt to change with a startup mindset.
- Communicate and present results clearly while fostering sustainable innovation.
- Proficiency in German and/or English.
- Be willing to travel to beamtimes and the Darmstadt or Biblis office if requested.
