Established in 1527, Philipps-Universität offers excellent teaching for approximately 22,000 students. With research in a wide spectrum of science, it faces the important issues of our time.

Tenure Track Professorship (W1 Tenure Track to W2) for Computational Modelling of Behaviour

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

**Tasks**:
Computational modeling of human behavior offers an important, future-oriented field of activity for psychologists. Developing models that describe and explain complex, dynamic behaviour is especially relevant in light of the rise of artificial intelligence and the increasing available of large-scale data sets on human behavior. The Department of Psychology at the Philipps University of Marburg strengthens the field of computational psychology by strategically filling this tenure track professorship.

**Profile**:
We are looking for a scientist who will strengthen the research focus of the Department of Psychology by setting up their own research group and who will actively participate in collaborations (e.g. GRK 2271, SFB-TRR 135, CMBB) and research initiatives (e.g. cluster of excellence ‘The Adaptive Mind’, LOEWE center DYNAMIC) at the Department of Psychology and the Philipps University. The professorship will develop computational methods for modeling and evaluating human behavior, efficient information processing, adaptation to the environment and interaction with the environment. The professorship builds a bridge to computer science and thus supports the AI-initiative of the Philipps University of Marburg. The professorship will be responsible for teaching BSc and MSc courses in psychology (including evaluation methods). The professorship will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching in the MSc in Cognitive and Integrative Systems Neurosciences. Teaching Languages are German and English.

The announcement of the qualification professorship is explicitly aimed at scientists in early career phases. The duration of the scientific activity after the doctorate should not exceed four years. Furthermore, the applicant should either not have obtained the doctorate at the Philipps University, or have been scientifically active outside the Philipps University for at least two years after completing the doctorate (in accordance with - 70 Abs. 3 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HessHG), the State of Hessen Higher Education Act).

We are looking for a scientist with outstanding scientific achievements with respect to an early career phase and an innovative scientific profile that demonstrates the potential for a further successful career in science at the highest international level. A university degree, a very good doctoratal degree as well as relevant publications in the field of computational psychology with a focus on modelling human behavior in particular are required. Experience in modelling dynamic processes, human behaviour, causal systems or longitudinal data and/or observational data (“big data”) is desirable. In addition, a particular pedagogical aptitude as evidenced by teaching experience is required. Teaching experience in an area relevant to the professorship is desirable. Experience in the successful acquisition of third-party funding is desirable. Openness to the promotion of interdisciplinary teaching and research is expected.

The employment requirements of -- 67, 68 and especially 70 HessHG apply. The appointment takes place in a civil servant relationship for a period of six years if the civil service requirements are met. In the event of a positive evaluation of the professional, educational and personal suitability, the job holder will be accepted into a civil service for life, combined with the transfer of a W2 professorship. Information for applicants can be found at.
