**Duties**:

- Supervises the administration of anesthesia by nurse anesthetists when indicated.
- Administers anesthesia to patients whose condition poses a particular anesthetic difficulty.
- Administers appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks in the treatment of acute pain.
- Oversees the activities of the recovery room and administers appropriate drug and respiratory therapy in the recovery room setting.
- Implements the proper use of mechanical ventilators in the recovery room if needed, and as necessary in the intensive care units.
- Provides consultation regarding preoperative preparation, intro and postoperative anesthetic management.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA).
- This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station
- This position may require you to be on-call on a rotational basis, responding to emergency calls at times beyond the normal duty day.

- **Basic Requirement for Physician (Anesthesiology)**:
**Degree**: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
- **Licensure**:Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.- In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

- **Residency Training for GP-15 Position**: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Anesthesiology) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 5 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.**Education**:

- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
- If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
- If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
