This is a new, rare and exciting opportunity to join the Head Office team of an award-winning independent retail group as Head of Trading.
TOUT’S Group is an award winning independent family-owned retail, healthcare and hospitality group which own and operate TOUT’S large Convenience Stores, Esso Fuel Forecourts, Pharmacies and Lounge/Restaurants in South West England. With an extensive growth strategy, we are looking for an experienced strategic, passionate, analytical individual who is looking to use their trading, merchandising and communicating skills to drive the brand offer and increase sales.
Job Purpose:
Our family-run company, a leading convenience retailer in North Somerset, is introducing a new role into our Head Office team to help accelerate our ambitious growth plans. The Head of Trading will be responsible for managing and leading the trading operations across the Group, primarily focused on our retail stores. They will always be striving to create the most irresistible customer offer in store by sourcing the best range, at the best price for customers and highest margin for us. They will demonstrate a balance in their skills between purchasing, growing margin and maximising sales by working in close partnership with the retail and marketing teams. Responsible for leading our Trading Expert and Data and Systems Analyst to help support in delivering our profit targets in line with our Company vision.
**Responsibilities**:
- Continually sourcing top quality products at the best price, working across different suppliers and wholesalers to secure the best deals and pricing for us which we pass on in savings to our customers.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to maximise profitability, reduce costs, and drive sales growth.
- Stay ahead of market trends and consumer behaviour to identify new opportunities for NPD.
- Build and grow relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms and pricing, completing regular range reviews bay by bay, to ensure each single product we are selling is the best possible use of our shelf space.
- Collaborate with other departments, including marketing and sales, to develop and execute integrated plans that benefits all, thinking of the bigger picture.
- Be an effective and engaging communicator, who can influence both remotely and in person, to enable the whole business to deliver the trading strategy.
- Lead and manage our Trading Expert and Data and Systems Analyst to ensure they are meeting performance objectives and achieving business targets.
**Requirements**:
- You will be passionate about food and enjoy building yours and your teams knowledge around food.
- Proven experience as a Head of Trading or similar role in a convenience retail environment.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing trading strategies that drive growth and profitability.
- Strong analytical skills and data interpretation. Competent with excel and Power BI.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders both internally and externally. The ability to engage and positively influence our front end teams is essential.
- Experience in managing and leading a team.
