Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM works on an interdisciplinary basis in the field of integration of microelectronics. The group “Technologies for Bioelectronics” focuses on the design and fabrication of active neural interfaces. We integrate small custom-designed electronics into microsystems for stimulation of and recording from the neural tissue. Our microsystems are often flexible implants based on biocompatible materials tailored for the central or peripheral nervous system. We design, fabricate, package and test our implants for long-term use. We also investigate new approaches for neural stimulation and wireless power transfer.

**What you will do**
- Conducting relevant research
- Data evaluation and documentation
- Developing programs for experimental purposes (e.g. embedded C, C#, Python or Matlab)
- Designing, assembling and testing of electronic circuits and devices

**What you bring to the table**
- Ongoing studies in the fields of electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, microelectronics, or comparable (higher semester in bachelor’s, or ongoing master’s studies)
- Some experience in discrete circuit design and handling of a circuit design program (Altium, Eagle, KiCad, etc.)
- Lab work experience (soldering, assembling, etc.) and confidence in learning and operating lab equipment
- Microcontroller and/or Python programming are of advantage
- Initiative and interest in experimental and analytical activities
- Teamwork, good organisational, and documentation skills
- Fluent English
