With structuring by laser remelting (waveshape process), the Fraunhofer ILT is developing an innovative process for structuring polished metal surfaces. The process, which originated from laser polishing, creates defined surface structures by redistributing the material in the melt. These polished micro
The aim of this work is to systematically investigate how the process parameters and machining strategies of the waveshape process affect the reflective behavior of the structures produced. The influence of a final laser micropolishing with pulsed laser radiation to increase the gloss level will also be investigated.
Knowledge of laser technology is an advantage, but not essential.
**What you will do**
- Experimental work on process development
- Carrying out photometric analyses of the laser remelting structures
- Literature research of relevant publications and studies on the investigation of the reflection behavior of laser remelting structures
**What you bring to the table**
- You are studying physics, mechanical engineering, materials science or a comparable course of study
- An interest in laser material processing
- An independent and conscientious way of working
- Written and spoken German and English skills
