The job
Recent droughts have shown that small lakes are particularly vulnerable to climate change. Where water bodies are located close to rivers, there is an additional risk from the long-term lowering of groundwater levels due to the conversion of rivers into waterways and the subsequent incision of the river bed.
Your tasks
- Coordinate and conduct field studies of floodplain water bodies, including groundwater
- Investigate the success of an eco-technology to be developed to reduce the effects of climate change and eutrophication
- Co-manage a newly established observatory for long-term monitoring of floodplain waters, analyse and publish the data
- Contribute own research ideas on the ecology and hydrology of floodplain waters
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and project meetings

**Profile**:
- PhD in environmental sciences with a focus on aquatic chemistry and ecology
- Background in hydrology, algal ecology and isotope chemistry is favorable
- Collaborative with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
