We are looking for Copernicus Operations Controllers to support EUMETSAT at their headquarters based in Darmstadt, Germany.

These positions will provide key support to the Sentinel-3, 6 and CO2M missions on a 24/7 shift pattern.

**About the programme**:
The CO2M (Copernicus Carbon Dioxide Monitoring) mission, part of the Copernicus programme, is part of the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) effort to measure carbon dioxide production resulting from human activity.

The Sentinel-3 and 6 missions are part of the larger Copernicus programme, which is headed by the European Commission, with support from ESA and EUMETSAT. The primary objective of Sentinel-3 is marine observation, and it will study sea-surface topography, sea and land surface temperature, ocean and land colour. The main focus of Sentinel-6 is to measure global sea-surface and wave height, primarily for operational oceanography and climate studies. It will also measure wind speed and provide data to map the tectonic features of the sea floor.

**Tasks and Activities**:
The scope of work will include:

- Satellite and System Familiarisation and IVV support.
- System Configuration and Operations set-up.
- Pre-Launch Operations preparation, training, certification and rehearsals.
- Support to LEOP and satellite In-Orbit Validation operations.
- Conducting EUMETSAT Ground Segment (System) commissioning operations, including:

- Supporting the ground segment operations throughout the LEOP and satellite commissioning. This will include the operational commissioning of the ground segment entities.
- Coordinating the implementation of day-to-day scheduled and contingency operations in the control centre.
- Monitoring and controlling all satellite operations, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected and that all operations are conducted in accordance with the established procedures.
- Performing specific operations as defined in the relevant operations plans.
- Acting as the primary interface for real-time operations matters with the controllers at the other locations.
- Participating in Back-Up Control Centre operations and activations.
- Performing first line reporting and analysis of ground and space segment anomalies in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitoring the EUMETSAT Data Centre via a remote terminal in accordance with established procedures communicated to the Contractor by the EUMETSAT Technical Officer during hours when the Data Centre is not manned with routine OPS staff.

**Skills and Experience**:
The following skills and experience are mandatory:

- A good background in a scientific or technical discipline to the level equivalent to Senior Technician as a minimum.
- Ability to work in continuous shift operations 24h/7.
- Real time operations execution according to established procedures.
- Capable of conducting all operations in an orderly and disciplined manner and working calmly and correctly under stress.
- Good interpersonal, communication and reporting skills.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
