At the Technische Universität Darmstadt, in the Department of Biology, Bio-Inspired Energy Conversion, a position is available as soon as possible for a

**Research Associate/Postdoc (all genders) in the area of Synthetic Biology of Photosynthesis**:
for an initial period of 3 years. An extension of the employment relationship is possible.

**Your activities**:
You will support an emerging research group in its establishment. In doing so, you will participate in the establishment of a functional laboratory, the initiation of new research activities, as well as in the fulfilment of upcoming teaching obligations and the supervision of PhD students.

Research activities will focus on synthetic biology, specifically on the remodelling of photosynthetic electron transport chains for the purpose of biosynthesis of high-value metabolic end products, especially in heterocyst-forming/filamentous cyanobacteria. In addition, tasks in student supervision and third-party funding acquisition are to be taken on.

Requirements for employment are a completed doctorate in biology (specialising in molecular biology/photosynthesis research), and ideally previous postdoctoral work.

Furthermore, applicants should have the following qualifications:

- sound practical experience in the fields of sterile culture and genetic modification of cyanobacteria
- experience in working with heterocyst-forming/filamentous cyanobacterial species
- practical experience in the field of photosynthesis research and, ideally, in the isolation/functional analysis of photosynthetic protein complexes
- experience in student supervision and acquisition of third-party funding
- ability to work independently and scientifically
- excellent English and computer skills
- organisational skills, high motivation, good teamwork and communication skills
