**Our Profile**:
The E.ON Energy Research Center of the RWTH Aachen deals with sustainable energy supply concepts that take into account both technical feasibility and social and economic aspects. The reduction of the primary energy consumption of buildings and the increase of the interior quality are among the central research tasks of the Chair of Building and Indoor Air Conditioning Technology. In the "Digital Energy Neighborhoods" team, we are dedicated to realizing a sustainable, decarbonized, and efficient energy supply in our neighborhood by integrating information and communication technology. Our research focuses on exploring the interactions between energy and communication systems, developing digital concepts for complex energy structures, and creating solutions for diverse use cases. Using cutting-edge technologies like IoT, Big Data, and machine learning, we validate our approaches through simulations, lab experiments, and field tests. Our solutions encompass intelligent operation and control, energy management, data models, data platforms, and participation in trading markets.
**Your Profile**:
- You work in a structured, independent and goal-oriented way and are characterized by an open and communicative manner.
- You are studying computer science, mechanical engineering, energy technology, electrical engineering, mathematics or a related course.
- You have extensive programming experience in Python and enjoy software development and data analysis.
- You strive to gain insights into energy efficient, sustainable and intelligent buildings.
- A very good command of written and spoken English is essential.
**Your Duties and Responsibilities**:
Some of your tasks will include:
- Collaboration and research on current trending topics.
- Participation in the development of an object-oriented Python optimization model.
- Participation in the integration of this model into the existing software framework.
**What We Offer**:
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term up to September 30, 2024.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8-12 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 13.25 € per hour.
