- Position requires basic understanding of and ability to converse in **English**. Performs roles and responsibilities under general supervision and provides direct oversight of subordinants.
- Ensures set up of kitchen or other food service areas, including preparing areas for daily operations.
- Set up equipment and utensils, under detailed instruction and, according with specific area needs, also attending to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
- Check food condition and temperatures, detects and disposes of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
- Convey food and supplies from storage to the main kitchen, bakery, and/or salad preparation area.
- Serve meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients; and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
- Assure satisfying presentation of each food item.
- Place and expedite orders.
- Prepare ingredients by following recipes; slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste; and plating meals.
- Prepare hot meals by grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, and broiling ingredients and assembling and refrigerating cold ingredients.
- Adhere to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature; and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
- Coordinate daily food supply inventory for food service areas.
- Submit order to supervisor.
- Assist with receipt of deliveries.
- Contribute to daily, holiday, and theme menus in collaboration with supervisor.
- Ensure smooth operation of food service areas during absence of supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas, this includes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules and dishwashing washing as needed.
- Clean, wash and maintain work areas, including floors, facilities, pots, pans, service ware, utensils, and equipment.
- Listen to customer complaints and suggestions and resolves complaints.
- Assists with orienting new employees to their work area.
- Instructs personnel in use of new equipment and cleaning methods and provides efficient and effective methods of maintaining work area.
- Participates in and/or contributes to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve quality of service and employee productivity.
- Prepare food items in accordance with specific instructions.
- Provide guidance and training to other staff members performing related work
- Two (2) or more years of experience in related field required.
