Associate Meteorologist

**About the Role**:
We are looking for an Associate Meteorologist to join our team on-site in Berlin, Germany. This role reports directly to our Senior Meteorologist in London and will work closely with traders and analysts in support of energy trading and renewable asset management operations in Europe. This is an excellent opportunity to play an integral part in a live trading environment in a weather-driven market.

This will be a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities:

- Work in the fast-paced environment of energy trading and renewable portfolio management in European geographies, on day-ahead and intraday time scales
- Interpret meteorological data to deliver concise, understandable and accurate weather forecasts through written reports and impromptu verbal discussion
- Understand how weather impacts the energy trading environment, in particular the effects on renewable generation and electrical power demand
- Participate in the development of weather data-enabled software tools to support manual and automated daily trading
- Proactively identify and alert energy traders of impactful weather events

**About You**:
This person will be a great communicator with meteorological intuition and a sharp analytical tool set. They will be skilled at conveying information about forecast uncertainty without sacrificing conviction, and enthusiastic about participating in two-way conversations with front office traders.

In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following:

- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Meteorology or related field
- An interest in the energy sector; particularly renewable energy
- An aptitude for solving new problems
- Strong analytical and communication skills, including fluent English language skills
- Experience forecasting on short
- to medium-range time scales; an understanding of associated forcings and drivers is a plus
- Strong technical/programming experience with Python preferred
