Postdoc/akademischer Rat

Nuernberg, Deutschland Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg Vollzeit

**Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst u. a.**:
The chair “International Business, Society and Sustainability” aims to advance the research frontier by addressing critical themes in interdisciplinary social science research related to sustainable development, business and human rights and environmental governance. Our teaching and research activities revolve around the question of how international business relationships could become more just and sustainable. For discussing this question, we draw on and contribute to different theoretical debates (e.g., environmental justice, business and human rights, telecoupling, political ecology, corporate accountability, sustainability governance of global supply chains) and use diverse mixes of methods (e.g., semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, document analysis, surveys, discourse analysis, transdisciplinary methods, network analysis). As sociopolitical processes and governance arrangements at different scales interact with and shape each other, our research focuses on different scales and cross-scalar linkages.
The implementation of international norms is empirically researched in the context of Europe and the EU, as well as in national and local contexts in the Global South. In the area of sustainability governance, the Chair's work includes state-led, private and multi-stakeholder instruments and examines their design, implementation and consequences for the environment and for various stakeholders. The Chair's staff analyze legal and political measures of sustainability governance in the context of their respective regulatory and socio-economic environment and also include the coherence or incoherence of different policy fields. Important topics in this context are, for example, the integration of human rights into environmental policy or the coherence between economic and trade policy with environmental, climate and human rights protection goals.
