**The Position**:
Embark on a transformative journey in the field of Cardio Metabolic Diseases Research as a postdoctoral fellow. Based in the vibrant research hub of Biberach, Germany, you'll be part of a team making strides in the development of therapeutics for retinal diseases. Your work will be pivotal in understanding the impact of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector-mediated gene expression on retinal function and morphology. This is your chance to make a significant contribution to this critical area of research.
This position is part time eligible with 80 %.
Post Doc: This Position is limited for 2 years.
**Tasks & responsibilities**:
- In your new role as a postdoctoral fellow, you will assume full responsibility for a basic science-focused research project, working closely with experienced mentors, and will leverage collaboration opportunities within Boehringer Ingelheim as well as with academic collaborators.
- In this project you will generate and evaluate adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors expressing genes of interest in relevant retinal in vitro/ex vivo systems.
- You will also evaluate the effects of intravitreally (IVT) injected AAVs on the emergence of retinal pathology in rodent studies, utilizing in-life imaging and functional testing such as OCT and ERG, as well as endpoint ocular assessments such as histology.
- Furthermore, you will benefit from a fully resourced and fully funded research environment with access to state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and equipment.
- You will join Boehringer Ingelheim's global postdoc community, engaging in scientific discussions locally and globally, facilitated by advanced technology and regular retreats.
