Lead the future of biopharma innovation-drive data science solutions and digital twin strategies as Head of Data Science Solutions (m/w/d).
Proclinical is seeking a Head of Data Science Solutions (m/w/d) to lead customer-facing data science initiatives and deliver advanced modeling and digital twin projects for biopharmaceutical clients.
For one of our biopharma clients in Stuttgart, we are seeking a Head of Data Science Solutions (m/w/d). This is a 100% remote role, open to candidates anywhere within the EU or Great Britain. In this strategic leadership position, you will drive customer-facing data science initiatives, delivering advanced modeling and digital twin projects that provide actionable insights for process development and cell culture optimization.
You will act as a trusted advisor in technical and commercial discussions, support pre-sales engagements, and collaborate with product and research teams to shape solutions. Leading a team of Data Scientists, you'll ensure scientific rigor, strong client engagement, and business growth. This role requires deep expertise in data science, bioprocesses, and proven leadership skills.
Customer Project Leadership
Oversee the execution of customer modeling projects from data acquisition to model delivery and interpretation.
Ensure project outcomes meet scientific, technical, and contractual objectives with clear customer value.
Translate complex modeling outcomes into decision-ready insights for scientists and executives.
Ensure scientific rigor in data handling, model interpretation, and documentation across all projects.
Collaborate with the product and research teams to define and position follow-up projects.
Lead, mentor, and develop Data Scientists, ensuring high scientific and professional standards.
Establish best practices for modeling workflows, data analysis, and scientific communication.
Partner with the Head of AI & Hybrid Modeling, Head of Software Architecture & Engineering, and Head of Product to align project delivery with product roadmap and technological capabilities.
Contribute to strategic discussions on scaling our modeling services and automation of project workflows.
Proven expertise in data science, hybrid modeling, and bioprocess analysis.
Strong proficiency in Python and ML/data libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, PyTorch, JAX, Scikit-learn).
Deep understanding of cell culture processes, bioreactor systems, and bioprocess data.
Strong skills in data visualization, statistical analysis, and result storytelling.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, engaging confidently with both technical and executive audiences.
Comfortable operating autonomously in a remote, international environment.
PhD or MSc in Data Science, Systems Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, or related field.
~8+ years of experience in applied data science or hybrid modeling roles, ideally in biopharma.
