For one of our clients in the field of Biopharma in Stuttgart we are looking for a Head of Data Science Solutions (m/w/d).This is a 100% remote role and can be performed from anywhere within the EU, Switzerland and Great Britain.POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a highly skilled and scientifically grounded Head of Data Science Solutions (m/w/d) to lead our professional services and customer-facing data science activities. In this strategic leadership role, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of modelling and digital twin projects to our biopharmaceutical customers—ensuring that hybrid models built with our proprietary technology generate clear, actionable insights that advance our clients’ process development and cell culture strategies.Beyond project delivery, you will act as a trusted scientific and commercial advisor, identifying new opportunities to expand our impact with existing and prospective customers. You will represent our hybrid modelling capabilities in technical discussions, support pre-sales engagements, and help shape solution proposals in close collaboration with the product and research teams.You will lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists, guiding them in scientific rigor, communication excellence, and customer engagement. This position requires a unique blend of data science expertise, bioprocess understanding, customer leadership, and business development acumen.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Project LeadershipOversee the execution of customer modelling projects from data acquisition to model delivery and interpretation.Ensure project outcomes meet scientific, technical, and contractual objectives with clear customer value.Serve as the primary scientific contact for key accounts, maintaining excellent relationships and communication.Translate complex modelling outcomes into decision-ready insights for scientists and executives.Scientific and Technical ExcellenceGuide the design, calibration, and validation of hybrid models combining mechanistic and AI-based approaches.Ensure scientific rigor in data handling, model interpretation, and documentation across all projects.Drive innovation in modelling workflows and virtual experimentation strategies.Contribute to the continuous improvement of our hybrid modelling framework and internal knowledge base.Provide scientific feedback to the Product and R&D teams to align future developments with customer needs.Business Development and Customer GrowthIdentify new opportunities within existing accounts by understanding customer goals and process challenges.Collaborate with the product and research teams to define and position follow-up projects.Contribute in pre-sales discussions, technical presentations, and proposal preparation.Represent us at conferences, customer meetings, and industry events to expand visibility and engagement.Team Leadership and DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop Data Scientists, ensuring high scientific and professional standards.Establish best practices for modelling workflows, data analysis, and scientific communication.Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning across the team.Evaluate team performance, identify development needs, and drive upskilling initiatives.Strategic CollaborationPartner with the Head of AI & Hybrid Modeling, Head of Software Architecture & Engineering, and Head of Product to align project delivery with product roadmap and technological capabilities.Represent the professional services organization in internal planning and customer strategy sessions.Contribute to strategic discussions on scaling our modelling services and automation of project workflows.TECHNICAL SKILLSProven expertise in data science, hybrid modelling, and bioprocess analysis.Strong proficiency in Python and ML/data libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, PyTorch, JAX, Scikit-learn).Experience designing and calibrating hybrid or mechanistic models of biological systems.Deep understanding of cell culture processes, bioreactor systems, and bioprocess data.Strong skills in data visualization, statistical analysis, and result storytelling.Familiarity with cloud platforms and collaborative modelling environments.SOFT SKILLSExceptional communication and presentation skills, engaging confidently with both technical and executive audiences.Strong commercial sense — able to identify value for customers and articulate it effectively.Leadership and mentoring capabilities with a high sense of accountability and ownership.Structured, analytical, and capable of critical scientific reasoning.Comfortable operating autonomously in a remote, international environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPhD or MSc in Data Science, Systems Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, or related field.8+ years of experience in applied data science or hybrid modeling roles, ideally in biopharma.Demonstrated success leading customer projects and expanding customer relationships.Prior experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or consulting.Strong record of scientific communication (publications, presentations, or workshops).YOUR NEW SOCIAL BENEFITSFull Mobile office option and flexible working hoursFlat organizational structureOpen feedback cultureWork in interdisciplinary teamsContinuous training and mentoring opportunities30 days of annual leaveE-GYM membershipBike leasing for both professional and private useCompany pension planFresh fruit and beverages providedDoes this position sound like a good fit for you?Then please send us your CV, including your earliest possible start date and salary expectations.If you’re interested in other opportunities in the fields of medical technology, diagnostics, or pharmaceuticals, feel free to reach out to us at any time.
