Our client is seeking a Head of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead and enhance their SRE organization, responsible for the reliability and scalability of a high-stakes SaaS platform used by Fortune 500 customers. This role is ideal for an accomplished SRE leader ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic start-up environment, driving the team’s strategy, performance, and operational excellence.



Role Overview:


Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Head of SRE will ensure platform reliability and exceed uptime targets, working closely with the SRE team to establish processes for disaster recovery, performance monitoring, alerting, and reporting. With ISO27001 and SOC2 certifications, the platform demands strict compliance in incident management, and the Head of SRE will be instrumental in upholding these standards while continuously improving team performance.

This hands-on leader will collaborate with the SRE Technical Lead and engineering teams to identify and implement enhancements, develop a 24/7 on-call strategy, and serve as the initial escalation point for critical incidents. The Head of SRE will also play a key role in team growth, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer-centric service.



Responsibilities:


  • Create exceptional customer experiences and ensure smooth deployments
  • Own escalation management and on-call duties, ensuring incident resolution
  • Lead the SRE team with energy and technical expertise
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience Organization to maintain high customer satisfaction



Qualifications:


  • MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years in SRE with 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Proven skills in project and escalation management
  • Strong communication and technical writing abilities



Requirements:


  • Experience managing global infrastructure across regions (USA, EMEA, China, GovCloud)
  • Demonstrated success with large-scale infrastructure (20+ SaaS instances, 500+ VMs, 100+ databases)
  • Expertise in SLO management, metrics creation, and capacity planning for extensive networks with 50,000+ devices
  • Track record of cost-efficient operations
  • 24x7x365 on-call support and structured incident management experience
  • Compliance with ISO-27001, SOC-2 standards
  • Advanced skills in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Python, Shell)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Security-centered approach with experience in PostgreSQL, Redis, HashiCorp Vault, InfluxDB, and OpenSearch
