About the RoleWe are looking for a proactive Coatings Development Chemist to join our growing R&D team in the North-West Rhine region. This role offers the opportunity to shape innovative waterborne coating solutions for the transportation sector. Working in a dynamic environment, you’ll take ownership of formulation projects from concept to commercial-scale, contributing directly to our customers’ performance and sustainability goals.Key ResponsibilitiesFormulate, manufacture, apply, and test new and existing waterborne coating systems for transportation applications.Analyze and interpret laboratory data, communicate technical findings, and prepare concise reports for internal and external stakeholders.Lead product development and qualification activities to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards.Collaborate with raw material suppliers and customers on sample sourcing, technical discussions, and application trials.Support troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and innovation efforts within R&D and production interfaces.Maintain laboratory operations, ensuring safety, equipment readiness, and proactive material and process management.Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).Minimum 3 years of experience in formulation and product development of waterborne coatings; experience in transportation coatings is a strong plus.Solid understanding of formulation chemistry, raw material selection, and analytical techniques.Strong technical English communication skills; German language ability is advantageous.Independent, curious, and hands-on approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Commitment to QHSE standards and laboratory best practices.What We OfferEntrepreneurial environment where ideas and initiative are valued.Direct involvement in product innovation driving transportation sustainability.Opportunity for personal growth within a collaborative, fast-moving technical team.Relocation support, both domestically and internationally.
