Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in architecting and developing our backend systems using Nest.js. Working closely with frontend developers, blockchain engineers, and product designers, you’ll build high-performance applications to power a state-of-the-art decentralized exchange. You’ll also mentor junior developers, contribute to solution architecture, and collaborate on strategic planning with the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead backend development for blockchain applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
- Architect and develop systems for a crypto asset derivatives exchange, including real-time order book management and data processing.
- Integrate multiple data sources and APIs, ensuring robust security and data integrity for high-frequency transactions.
- Optimize backend performance for low latency and high throughput in financial applications.
- Collaborate with frontend teams on API design and system integrations for highly responsive applications.
- Participate in solution design to meet security, performance, and accessibility standards.
- Mentor junior team members, review code, and promote best practices.
- Collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams to align on project timelines and requirements.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in backend development, with 2+ years specifically in Nest.js.
- Deep expertise in both SQL and NoSQL databases, understanding their use in high-speed transaction environments.
- Strong experience with real-time systems and WebSocket implementation for live data streaming.
- Proven experience in team leadership, project planning, and backend project management.
- Startup experience and an adaptable, collaborative mindset.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of blockchain technology and Web3 frameworks.
- Prior experience in a DeFi or blockchain-focused environment.
- Familiarity with smart contract interactions and libraries like Web3.js or Ethers.js.
