Position Overview:
The Project Development Manager will play a key role in driving our clients utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) pipeline across Germany. You will oversee multiple projects from conception to early-stage development, identifying and evaluating new sites, as well as establishing strategic relationships with landowners, land agents and navigating the permitting and development process applications to meet delivery targets.
Responsibilities:
- Land Acquisition: Screen potential sites for utility-scale storage projects and guide discussions to secure necessary land rights.
- Origination Management: Oversee land origination, negotiation, and closure of agreements, including commercial negotiations with landowners, agents, consultants, and third-party entities.
- Planning and Permitting: Manage applications and submissions to clear planning and permitting hurdles for energy storage projects in Germany.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including land agents and landowners, to secure project opportunities and ensure pipeline growth meets year-on-year targets.
- Financial Modelling: Develop financial models for potential sites according to company standards and metrics, guiding discussions with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- GIS and Land Assessment: Utilize GIS tools for identifying and assessing potential land parcels, and engage landowners through creative methods such as cold calling and in-person visits.
- Legal Collaboration: Work with legal professionals to draft and review land agreements, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Communication and Documentation: Maintain clear communication and accurate records with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory agencies throughout land acquisition and permitting phases.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2-3 years+ of land acquisition experience within the German market across BESS or Solar
- Understanding of German market including dealing with local municipalities, land use permits, interconnection and keeping up to date with market trends.
- Experience with BESS, Solar, or Wind
- Bachelor Degree required
- Fluency in German-speaking required
