The Berlin Metropolitan School (BMS), a leading K–12 IB World School, fully accredited by CIS/NEASC, is looking for you to join us as our next Secondary School Principal, starting August 2026.In this senior leadership role, you will guide our Secondary School’s strategic direction, empower a diverse team of educators, and ensure that every student experiences a safe, supportive, and high-quality learning environment. You will collaborate closely with our Executive Director, Head of School, and Senior Leadership Team to drive schoolwide priorities and strengthen the Primary-to-Secondary transition.You will join a thriving international community of more than 500 students and 60 faculty and staff committed to excellence, innovation, and student success in our Secondary School.What You Will LeadIn this role, you will:Create and uphold a positive school culture aligned with the BMS Guiding Statements and IB Learner Profile.Shape, communicate, and implement a clear strategic vision for the Secondary School.Inspire, mentor, and develop your teaching team to deliver high-quality learning.Lead curriculum development, assessment standards, and reporting processes.Ensure student performance is assessed accurately, consistently, and fairly.Safeguard the physical, academic, and social-emotional well-being of students and staff.Oversee recruitment, appraisal, and professional development for faculty.Maintain effective communication with students, parents, faculty, and the wider community.Manage the Secondary School budget in collaboration with the Business Director and Head of School.Liaise with the Berlin Senate on staffing regulations and curriculum requirements.Lead and complete re-accreditation cycles for IB, CIS, and NEASC.What You BringYou will thrive in this role if you are:A visible, confident, and strategic school leader with strong decision-making skills.An excellent communicator who builds trust with diverse stakeholders.Committed to continuous improvement and high expectations for teaching and learning.An exceptional educator with a deep understanding of high-quality, student-centered pedagogy.Supportive of innovative teaching practices and modern learning environments.Positive, collaborative, self-driven, and outcome-oriented.Holding degrees in Education, including qualifications in Educational Leadership.Fluent in English; German proficiency is an advantage.Experienced as a Principal (minimum 3 years), ideally in an IB or international school setting.What You’ll Find at BMSAt BMS, you’ll join a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking community.
