Hilfswissenschaftler, Laboratory Assistant

**About Cultimate Foods**

We are a German-based startup in cellular agriculture on a mission to transform the food industry with our cultivated intramuscular fat as an ingredient, for example, to elevate the taste, aroma & mouthfeel of plant-based products.

We are seeking a passionate scientist to help our Bioprocess Team in Hanover.

The contract is for a "Hilfswissenschaftler" (research assistant), 20h/week (half-time), with an estimated salary of approx 1.050€/month.

The starting date is June 2024, with a duration of 6 months, with an extension of an extra 6 months (the project is 12 months but the University gives 6 months contracts).

**Responsibilities**

- Conducts guided and independent experiments to characterise and validate novel compounds for cell growth and cell differentiation in 2D and 3D culture

- Maintains accurate laboratory records and data

- Prepares reports and presentations

**Skills & qualifications**

- Academic background (B.Sc.) in a relevant field, such as Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences or similar fields, or a completed apprenticeship as a biological-technical assistant

- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (cell thawing, passaging, media exchanges), and good aseptic techniques. Working with stem cells is a plus

- Experience with (fluorescence) microscopy

- Experience with small-scale bioreactors is a plus

- Basic knowledge of statistics (to make graphs and plots for reports)

- Strong critical and analytical thinking as well as evaluative skills

- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
