POSITION OVERVIEW
The Engineering Project Manager will lead the embedded software (firmware), and possible associated mobile and cloud, development life-cycle of complex products with new technologies. This role leads multiple engineering disciplines to successful project outcomes, mentors others, and influences methods and processes to advance Gentex's product development capabilities. She/He will also execute the SW development milestone and related processes.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Autonomously lead Gentex SW related engineering disciplines in product development.
- Work with outside vendors and communicate timelines and expectations with OEMs and customers.
- Coordinate with product management, program management and engineering teams to document and supervise program requirements and technical specifications and transform these into implementation roadmaps, balancing agile and waterfall methodologies to create achievable schedules and manage cross-functional dependencies, as well as identifying and mitigating execution risk.
- Collaborate, build consensus, ensure accountability, and persistently drive stakeholder alignment through effective and timely decision-making processes to meet project and customer requirements.
- Advocate for stakeholders regarding expectations and communicate to development teams.
- Communicate goals, progress, and process efficiencies to senior leadership.
- Lead programmatic meetings with an appropriate level of detail for respective audiences.
- Proactively coordinate meetings with cross-functionals partners that address roadblocks, are action oriented, result in clear notes covering outcomes and decisions, and next steps have identified due dates.
- Release engineering artifacts including product software, Bill of Materials, release notes according to established processes.
- Autonomously understand and apply process tailoring, as needed.
- Lead process improvements by driving collaboration with engineering leadership and program management.
- Develop and promote known best practices and train and mentor others on existing processes and tools.
- Represent Gentex Engineering in customer communication.
- Lead and review engineering quotations for new technologies, together with the product team, program management and commercial management team develop profitable product business cases in line with strategic plan.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Participate in software and hardware technical reviews
- Perform and manage the relevant tasks of internal development processes to meet SPICE (where required)
- Develop and manage the completion of customer documentation for software deliverables
- Be a go-to person for Software Development and Project processes.
- Mentor, encourage, and/or teach other Software Project Engineers
- Fostering teamwork - Building effective partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
- Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
- Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
WHAT TO BRING
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience.
- 10+ years of product and software development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel
- Leadership experience.
- Experience leading System Engineering (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software) teams in product development.
WHAT WILL HELP
- Experience working in Electrical Engineering, Software Design or System Engineering.
- Experience managing a project or leading a team.
- Experience in Project or Program Management.
- Experience in the Automotive Aerospace, Medical, and Consumer Electronics Industries.
- Experience with DOORS.
- Experience with Microsoft Project or Smartsheet and Jira.
