Job Overview:

As a Site Reliability Engineer with our startup you will be responsible for ensuring the uptime, performance, and scalability of our services running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will play a key role in maintaining the reliability of our systems, monitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing best practices for continuous improvement. This position requires a strong background in Linux, cloud environments (especially GCP), and a keen focus on monitoring and troubleshooting.


Responsibilities:

  • Reliability & Availability: Ensure the high availability and reliability of critical systems by applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize services deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging cloud-native services and tools.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Lead efforts in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving system performance issues, outages, and production incidents.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Develop and manage monitoring solutions to track system health, application performance, and user activity, ensuring timely detection of issues.
  • Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate manual processes, manage infrastructure using IaC tools (such as Terraform, Ansible), and implement scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Capacity Planning & Scaling: Work with engineering teams to optimize and scale services to meet the growing needs of the business.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure systems are secure by enforcing security best practices, conducting regular audits, and addressing vulnerabilities.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with development, operations, and product teams to design, deploy, and support new features. Share best practices with team members and assist in building a culture of continuous improvement.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Strong hands-on experience working with GCP, including services like Compute Engine, GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Monitoring, and BigQuery.
  • Linux Expertise: Solid experience managing Linux-based servers in a production environment, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system hardening.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: In-depth knowledge of monitoring tools and services (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring), as well as experience debugging performance bottlenecks and resolving incidents under pressure.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Cloud Security Best Practices: Understanding of security protocols and practices in a cloud environment, including IAM, encryption, and access controls.
  • CI/CD: Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices, tools, and pipelines.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues in production environments quickly and efficiently.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment.
