Lead Data Engineer

Location: Germany (sites in Frankfurt, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne)


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to drive the development of cutting-edge data solutions. In this role, you will provide strategic guidance on data engineering initiatives, craft scalable architectures, and bridge the gap between technical development and business requirements.



Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Advise on advanced data engineering strategies, ensuring the seamless integration of architecture, data analytics, planning, and reporting.
  • Solution Development: Design and deliver high-quality, professional-grade data solutions.
  • Collaboration: Act as the liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment of goals, technical feasibility, and smooth system integration.
  • Technology Implementation: Utilise platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks, and Snowflake to develop robust data solutions.
  • Programming Expertise: Work with scripting languages such as Python, Scala, and Java alongside frameworks like Spark or PySpark for efficient data processing.
  • Data Management: Create and manage complex database models using SQL to ensure optimal performance.



Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: A degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Professional Experience: Demonstrated success and experience data engineering, with a strong track record in strategic projects or consulting roles.
  • Technical Expertise: Understanding of modern data engineering, including data lake architecture, data mesh, and data vault. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, software engineering best practices, and cloud-native development.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with professional fluency in English and German
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and coach junior developers while fostering a collaborative environment.
