Das Erlangen Centre for Astroparticle Physics (ECAP) ist eines der weltweit führenden universitären Forschungszentren im Bereich der Astroteilchenphysik. Im ECAP wird Forschung und Studierendenausbildung auf höchstem Niveau geboten. Zentrale technische Einrichtungen zur Unterstützung von Forschung und Lehre bilden ein Rückrat des Zentrums. Sie sollen Teil des wissenschatsstützenden Teams werden und die wissenschaftliche Softwareentwicklung und die Entwicklung der Computingsysteme am ECAP leiten.

Ihre Aufgaben

Ihre Aufgabe ist die Leitung der Bereiche Scientific Computing und Software und der Gruppe der zugeordneten Mitarbeitenden. Zu Ihren Aufgaben gehört:

  • Betrieb, Erhalt und Ausbau der Einrichtungen des wissenschaftlichen Computing am ECAP und speziell im Forschungsbau ECAP Laboratory;
  • Betrieb der zentralen ECAP Computing Services;
  • Unterstützung der Softwareentwicklung in den Experimenten des ECAP und in der Lehre, insbesondere bei Abschlussarbeiten;
  • Schulung von neuen Mitarbeitenden im Bereich Software und Computing;
  • Unterstützung bei computing-intensiven wissenschaftlichem Arbeiten an Experimenten und Großrechenanlagen, derzeit insbesondere im Bereich von High-Throughput und High-Performance Computing (insbesondere für maschinelles Lernen);
  • Cyber-Sicherheitsbeauftragter für das ECAP;
  • Einwerbung von wissenschaftlichem Computing und Software-nahen Förderungen mit ECAP Bezug.
Ihr Profil

Notwendige Qualifikationen:

  • Abgeschlossene Hochschulausbildung in Informatik, Computertechnik, Informationstechnologie, Physik, Mathematik oder gleichwertige Kenntnisse;
  • Tiefgreifendes Verständnis von informationstechnologischen Ansätzen, Anwendungen, Werkzeugen und Methoden sowie einem breiten Hintergrund in einer Vielzahl von IC-Technologieplattformen;
  • Langjährige, mind. 5-jährige Erfahrung in

- Wissenschaftlichem Programmieren mit mindestens drei modernen Programmiersprachen (notwendig: Python und C++); - wissenschaftlicher Datenverarbeitung, Workload-Management und Datenmanagementsystemen; - Nutzung oder Administration von HPC- und HTC-Systemen mindestens auf dem Tier-2 Niveau; - Konzeption, Betrieb und Administration von container-basierten IT-Serviceleistungen mit Redundanz und Verfügbarkeitsanforderungen auf dem Tier-1 Niveau;

  • Erfahrung im wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten im Bereich der Astroteilchenphysik oder angrenzenden Forschungsgebieten;
  • Fähigkeit zur effektiven Teamarbeit in einer internationalen, multikulturellen, verteilten und komplexen Institutsumgebung;
  • Fähigkeit, komplexe technische und wissenschaftliche Informationen zu verstehen und zu vermitteln;
  • Ausgezeichnete Kommunikationsfähigkeiten und die verhandlungssichere Beherrschung der deutschen und englischen Sprache sind unerlässlich.

Wünschenswerte Qualifikationen:

  • Vertrautheit mit allen Bereichen des Software-Lebenszyklus sowie mit formalen Softwareanforderungen, technischen und architektonischen Spezifikationen wird als Plus betrachtet;
  • Selbständige, strukturierte, zuverlässige Arbeitsweise, gute organisatorische Fähigkeiten;
  • Einsatzbereitschaft sowie Flexibilität.
