Project Overview:

Our client, a leading automotive company based in Germany, is seeking a highly skilled Virtualization Engineer to join their team for a long-term freelance project. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining virtualization solutions to support the company's IT infrastructure. The project involves optimizing and modernizing the virtualization environment to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy virtualization solutions based on VMware or similar technologies to meet the company's IT requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop virtualization strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and performance tuning of virtualized environments.
  • Configure and manage virtual machines, clusters, and storage systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard virtualized infrastructure and data.
  • Monitor virtualization infrastructure health, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including technical specifications, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and end-users.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in virtualization and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the company's IT capabilities.
  • Adhere to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful project delivery.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Virtualization Engineer or similar role, with expertise in VMware or equivalent virtualization platforms.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, including hypervisors, virtual machines, and storage technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter Server, and related tools.
  • Familiarity with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and RAID configurations.
  • Experience in designing and implementing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions in virtualized environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent are highly desirable.
