The Sánchez Lab at the European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) is looking to fill a position in super-resolution microscopy limited until 30.04.2027 according to a DFG project at the earliest starting opportunity.
The European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) is an interdisciplinary institute within the University of Münster developing imaging methods allowing to visualize molecular processes inside organisms, tissues and cells. With the help of imaging, we perform cutting-edge research in vascular, inflammatory, infectious, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. The EIMI is located in the Multiscale Imaging Center (MIC), which hosts research groups from our University combining a broad range of state-of-the-art imaging technologies for the investigation of biomedical questions.
We are interested in how receptors sense the environment and respond generating selective responses. We will focus on an undervalued receptor family, plexins. These receptors are involved in neuronal development, but also in shaping the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal systems and kidney. Further, plexins regulate immune responses and cancer becoming an attractive drug target.
The 2-year position is funded by an Emmy Noether DFG grant and aims to combine single-molecule localization methods and cell biology to decipher the stoichiometry and dynamics of plexin receptors in living cells, the role of ligand binding and ligand-independent mechanosensing.
- The candidate should hold a PhD in Life Sciences (finished no longer than 3 years ago)
- Strong interest in single molecule localization microscopy methods
- Experience with lab work (confocal microscopy and SMLM)
- We encourage applicants with a broad experimental-analytical interest, as the job holder will contribute both to the development of new methods and their application to investigate the organization and dynamics of plexin receptors in the context of cancer
- Oral and written communication skills – English (required) and German (desired)
- Willingness to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team
We seek a motivated, ambitious scientist to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an outstanding scientific environment. Proven experience in data acquisition and analysis of advanced microscopy imaging techniques (e.g. confocal microscopy, TIRF, FRET, STORM, DNA-PAINT) is required.
What we offer:- Career development in a multidisciplinary and committed research team, mentorship, room for your ideas, problem solving, and teamwork will be strongly promoted
- Work-life balance – Münster is one of the cities with best quality of life
- Modern infrastructure, international and collaborative research environment
We are looking forward to your online application by 31.01.2025 including as a single PDF (cover letter describing your research interest and why you are suitable for the position (maximum 1 page); CV including a list of relevant publications; copy of the official academic transcript of your degree; names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers of 2 academic references).
