JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a graduate or undergraduate to join the Hamburg team of HARTREE PARTNERS. You will join an international and dynamic company where you will have exposure to the full scope of the trading activity of a fast-growing commodity-trading firm.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of a mentor, you will be introduced to the world of Gas, Power, Crude and Refined Oil Products Trading. You will observe how trades are structured, what are the key contractual terms, how deals are financed, what is a collateral, what are the risks of a transaction and how to mitigate them, how a trading company is structured and the different departments that are interacting to make a trade happen.

In addition to supporting an operator in his day-to-day you will also help the team follow-up with documentary presentation, update the trade system, track documents being sent out for signature.


Assist the Operations team with:

  • Checking suppliers’ invoices, issue sales invoices and approve service providers quotes and invoices.
  • Communicating with supplier and customers to coordinate shipments.
  • Appointing supervisory companies and follow-up of transactions.
  • Declaring pricing options following the trader’s instructions.
  • Proceeding to regular P&L checks with the accounting department.
  • Making daily updates to the database/system of record and internal reporting.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's or master’s Degree.
  • Genuine interest in the commodity industry.
  • Fluent German/English, & any other language is a plus.
  • Excellent skills in Excel including VBA.
  • Diligent, detail oriented.
  • Service oriented, excellent written and oral communication.
  • Focused, organized and able to prioritize and work autonomously.
  • Proactive, curious, eager to learn.
  • Ability to work as apart of a team, and independently.
  • Capacity to deliver under pressure and within tight schedules.
  • Someone with excellent logical and analytical skills as well as a critical mindset.
  • We require the successful candidate to avail themselves for three months between June and September 2024.
