Koralo creates vegan New Fsh, wellness food enriching health and beauty, harnessing the ocean´s nutrition with its patented co-fermentation technology of microalgae and mycelium.
A positive impact on our world threatened by climate change and loss of biodiversity is what drives us ahead as individuals and as a team… and how we do it is by doing what we do best whether that is writing poetry in our marketing or designing a new process on the technology team.
We have launched our first product in 2023 and are now expanding and scaling for the next wave
Role Description
- Design and implement fermentation and downstream processes in pilot plant to optimise yield and quality.
- Operate and maintain bioreactors and downstream processing equipment as well as troubleshoot process deviations.
- Derive design requirements for future up- and down-stream large scale equipment
- Prepare seed cultures in shake flasks or other small-scale vessels for pilot plant and experimental optimisation
- Apply knowledge of microbiology to understand microbial behavior, growth kinetics, and metabolic pathways.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering / Biotechnology or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in bioprocess operation, optimization, and seed culture preparation are a benefit.
- Strong academic or applied expertise in microbiology, ideally in fungi or microalgae.
- Practical experience in operating bioreactor systems is a benefit.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Team player and also capable of working independently.
- Being able to speak fluent English, German is beneficial.
- Agile and organised working skill.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a plus
