EPM Scientific are currently seeking a Research Engineer, for a cutting edge medical device organisation. You will be instrumental in the advancement of their medical laser systems, whilst having the opportunity to be at the forefront in the development of breakthrough technologies and revolutionary therapies.


You will be responsible for:

  • Optical adjustment and characterisation of lasers including verification and documentation
  • Conduct error analysis and implement corrective measures during the development process.
  • Define system requirements and contribute to the design of medical laser systems.
  • Provide regular progress reports on development results and collaborate closely with internal and external departments.
  • Support external research projects as per objectives set.
  • Generate innovative product ideas and function's.


You will have:

  • A degree in Physics, electrical/mechanical engineering, or equivalent, with a strong background in opto-mechanical and electrical component design.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in R&D of laser components (optical, electrical, mechanical).
  • Have in-depth knowledge and technical understanding of laser technology, optics, and opto-mechanical setups, with experience in designing solid-state lasers (flash lamp and diode pumped).
  • Familiarity with medical device design and analogue electronic circuits.
  • Experience in embedded software development (e.g., docklight, LabVIEW, Python) and CAD tools (e.g., ProEngineer) are desirable.
