Job Title: Plant Director / Plant Manager

Reports to: Manufacturing Director

Location: Minden (Germany)


As a Plant Director you will be accountable to develop and deploy the strategic direction for the site in line with its role in the Supply network in order to deliver World class Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost competitiveness.

At the heart of the role of people leader is the creation of high performing teams and an engaging working environment. It is essential to create a safe working environment for all Associates and Contractors on site while guaranteeing conformance with all Mars standards and Legal requirements which concern Safety, Quality and Food Safety, Hygiene and Environment.

You will be driving the employer and functional branding to attract and retain more diversified workforce, taking into account the aspirations of our new generation of Associates, as well as new skill sets required by our Manufacturing Digitalization program.

You will also need to demonstrate a high level of agility to flex the Factory operations to adapt to the fast-changing Consumer, Customer, Supplier, Social and Regulatory environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create an engaging working environment role modelling The Five Principles, Great Line Management best practices and High Performing team behaviours.
  • Develop a robust Talent pipeline with succession plans, sponsoring Mars program such as Inclusion and Diversity, Mars Be Well, Future of Work,..., to attract, develop and retain.
  • Develop site organisation and capabilities in line with segment guidelines, Manufacturing Digitalization program and specific site requirements.
  • Accountable for all aspects of Safety and Quality on site; demonstrate visible leadership to ensure a continuous improvement year on year of site Safety and Quality Cultures and KPIs.
  • Develop a genuine culture of compliance to Mars standards and Legal requirements which concern Safety, Quality and Food Safety, Hygiene and Environment.
  • Lead the Mars Supply Excellent program deployment by developing Assets, Process and KPIs Ownership and a culture of “zero loss” from Senior Leadership Team to Shopfloor, Everyday Best In Class Performance and Continuous Improvement.
  • Accountable to build, monitor and deliver site Operating Plan budget including Capital Approval Budget.
  • Lead the site Value Leadership initiatives for year-on-year
  • Demonstrate a high level of End to End (E2E) Supply Chain Collaboration with other functions to deliver on-time/in-full Customers requirement, Product Innovation/Renovation/Sustainability projects and E2E Supply Chain World Class KPIs.
  • Develop and upgrade the site Masterplan to fit with Business needs and Supply Network strategy, including assets obsolescence management and Sustainable In a Generation program, partnering with the Regional Supply functions.
  • Embody the 6 Mars Supply Mindset & Behaviours, ensure shop floor physical presence, coach on behaviour & process, and lead the site communication strategy & plan


Skills And Experience

  • Education: Master‘s degree in sciences, engineering, supply chain or business related
  • 10 years in Manufacturing environment, production, maintenance, engineering, Lean, industrial engineering.
  • Line Management at scale > 5 years
  • 3 out of the following experience diversity : functional, geography, segment, local/regional
  • Essential level : Digital, Business Translation, E2E Planning, Physical Logistics, Commercial, Financial Acumen, Risk Management, Environmental Management, General Project Management
  • Advanced level : Safety, Quality and Food Safety, Mars Supply Excellence Manufacturing, Problem Solving, Analytical capability, Sustainable In a Generation program
